Olympic Torch Relay - Wednesday 23rd May 2012

See the Olympic Flame as it is carried through Stroud as part of it's 70-day journey to the Olympic Stadium. On the fifth day of its journey, it will come into our district from Cirencester along the A419. It will enter Stroud at around 4.15pm and be carried through the town centre, along London Road, past the Four Clocks and along Rowcroft before passing the new canal bridge and then being carried along Merrywalks. On its way out of Stroud, it will be carried along Beeches Green. More information, including a route map, can be found on this leaflet. |

Stroud International Textiles presents a ground breaking exhibition exploring the results of collaboration and exchanging skills, ideas, tools, materials with 18 leading artists commissioned to create new work. Curated by international textile artist Alice Kettle and SIT artistic director Lizzi Walton. | Linking to the exhibition is a major Symposium taking place on Saturday 5th May 9.00am – 5.00pm at Stroud College, Stratford Road, Stroud, Gloucestershire GL5 4AH, where a panel of artists, academics and writers, chaired by artist-curator Alice Kettle will consider and explore how they have been inspired to create by collaborating. Also in May are talks and workshops and the Textile Trail Open Studios over two weekends. Stroud on Water - Saturday 2nd - Monday 4th June 2012

Taking place at Marling School Playing Field. The festival will host the Inland Waterways Association’s annual Trailboat Festival with lots of boats expected to be on the Stroudwater canal for the first time in over 100 years! 2012 is also the 40th anniversary of the Cotswold Canals Trust. With a host of activities including canal boat trips, live music, real ale bar, food and drink, craft and produce stalls, childrens entertainment and firework display.
