Stroud's Mayor is encouraging people to wish upon a star this Christmas to support a local charity that offers assistance to bereaved families.
Andy Read added his own personal message to the Tree of Stars in the town's Merrywalks centre when he joined the Reid family from Rodborough in offically launching the charity's campaign during he Goodwill Evening.
Natalie Barrington, Wish Upon a Star co-ordinator for Winston’s Wish said: "Shoppers can write their messages on silver stars to remember loved ones or to make a wish for the future all the way through the festive period until Christmas Eve. All stars written will be displayed on the tree in exchange for a £1 minimum donation to help support bereaved children."
