Residents can have a say on what they want for Stroud over the next three years as Stroud Town Council carries out a survey of the town’s 12,000 residents.
The answers will help determine what the town council’s priorities are in years to come.
The last survey was done in 2008. In their responses, residents called for improved public toilets. The town council contributed £10,000 towards new toilets in Bedford Street.
The poor conditions for bus users at Merrywalks were another priority for residents. The town council responded with £15000 for improved shelters and a telephone kiosk.
In the 2008 survey residents said green spaces were a high priority and street entertainment a low one. As a result the town council dropped funding for street entertainment and acquired more green spaces.
Town mayor John Marjoram urges residents to fill out this year’s survey which will be delivered to residents’ homes with the town council newsletter very soon.
“We will soon be setting our budgets and priorities for the next three years. The more we know about what residents want, the better we can serve the community,” he said.
“We would urge people to take a few moments and fill in the survey. This exercise will allow us to understand what is important to you.”
