Stroud District Council has announced the dates of public consultation events for its forthcoming Local Plan.
The 15-year Local Plan, formerly know as the Core Strategy, identifies key locations in the district for the growth of housing and jobs until 2026. The public’s responses will inform the final stages of Local Plan preparation and will help the authority finalise development locations.
This ‘preferred strategy’ consultation will deal with the council’s proposals for how best to distribute 3,200 new homes and encourage up to 6,400 jobs in the district.
It will ask for people’s views about focusing development at six main locations:
- Hunts Grove (Hardwicke/Haresfield parishes)
- north east of Cam
- west of Stonehouse (Eastington parish)
- along the Stroud Valleys
- Aston Down
- Sharpness
The proposal for the Stroud Valleys is for 300-800 homes on potential brownfield sites between Brimscombe and Dudbridge and possible greenfield sites north and east of Stroud. It is proposed that it would create up to 1,600 jobs.
There will be six drop-in exhibitions, targeted at the main development locations, where members of the public can look at the plans and ask questions.
The one for Stroud will be held at the Subscription Rooms on Saturday February 25 from 10am-3pm.
Display boards, providing information, will also be available at the Stroud Town Council offices in London Road from February 6-February 26.
