How The Council Works

This is a brief introduction to how the council works. It covers basic information as to how many councillors there are, what committees we run and how often we meet. It also explains the different levels of government in the UK and where we fit in.

Councillors

Committees

Stroud Town Council Committees & Members. There are also a number of working groups to look at particular issues, they can include members of the local community and are set up by and report to full council meetings.

Community Grants

The objective of Stroud Town Council's Grants Programme is to support and encourage a diverse range of youth and community activities, initiatives and events that meet the needs of Stroud Parish residents.

Green Spaces and Playing Fields

Our Green Spaces Team are responsible for the day-to-day management of the 24 green and open spaces around the town.

Allotments

Your Town Council owns five allotment sites spread around the parish. They provide around 189 plots for the benefit of residents of Stroud Town.

Banner Bookings

The Town Council controls the use of some key locations in the town for the purpose of promoting local events.

Annual Reports

Each year Stroud Town Council produces an annual report. This contains a report from the Mayor and each committee chairperson on the previous years activities. The report is issued in April each year in time for the Annual meeting.

Stroud Cemetery

Stroud Cemetery is owned by Stroud District Council, but the day-to-day maintenance of the grounds, and administration and management of burials is the responsibility of Stroud Town Council.
