Allotments

Your Town Council owns five allotment sites spread around the parish. They provide around 189 plots for the benefit of residents of Stroud Town.

Each site is managed on our behalf by a plot holder association. This gives residents and plot holders greater control over their facilities. It is up to the committees of each association to allocate plots and to manage rents and the sites.

Please see below for more information of each of Stroud’s allotment sites with contact details. If you are unable to get a suitable response from the relevant association, please contact the Town Council office direct and we will assist.

We are currently seeking to provide new allotment sites within the town. If you are unable to find an allotment site that fits your needs, please let us know. Having details of unmet need and of which parts of the town have a shortfall, will assist us in future planning.

Spider Lane

Spider Lane has 30 plots. The annual cost is £20 for a full plot and £10 for half.  All plots are currently taken and there are 17 people on the waiting list.

Gannicox/Stratford Road

There are 28 plots costing from £3-£18 depending on the size of the plot. All plots are currently taken with seven people on the waiting list. This is a small friendly site with a good range in age and experience.

Bisley Old Road

‘The site holds about 50 plots. All plots are currently taken and there is a waiting list of 1. We are charging £10, £15 and £20 for plots for 1 year running 1st Jan to 31st Dec. We are an active committee organising workdays and competitions for as many as our members who want to take part in them. We also organise regular slots at the Farmers Market to raise funds for ongoing site developement. Members receive newsletters twice yearly.’

Uplands

There are 19 full plots and 24 half plots. The annual cost is £10 for a full plot and £6 for half. This just covers expenses. All plots are taken and there is a waiting list of 10.

Location: Next to Uplands Playing Field. Two gated accesess off track from Folly Lane to playing field car park.

Summer Street

There are 72 plots of various shapes and sizes with a friendly multicultural community of all ages and backgrounds. For details of the waiting list and more information about the site and how to join please visit the website www.summerstreet.org.uk.

Location: Next to the Leazes Playing Field. Gated access from both Summer Street and Gaineys Well (Off The Leazes).
