Gill is an English teacher at a local school and is married, with two teenaged daughters and a dog. She is a long-standing member of Stroud and District Athletic Club and enjoys running and cycling in the hills around the town.

Her favourite things in Stroud include the Farmers' Market, Stroud Brewery and Stroud Bookshop.

Since moving to Stroud in 1996, she has been a fringe member of some local political and environmental groups and is now keen to become more involved. "I now feel an imperative to give greater commitment to the local community, because the current environmental, social and political climates demand it," she says.

"I love the rich variety in Stroud communities and understand the need many have of support. Stroud is a unique, creative and vibrant district whose communities can build a better future by working collaboratively together. I am excited at the prospect of working for and with the people of Stroud."
