Deputy Mayor, Cllr Camilla Hale

Councillor Camilla Hale has been elected as Deputy Mayor of Stroud Town Council.

She replaces Councillor Margaret Poulton who has resigned due to relocation.

Town Mayor Kevin Cranston praised Councillor Poulton who has represented the Valley Ward since 2008 and been Deputy Mayor since 2016.

Budget 2021/22

Stroud Town Council has decided to reduce its planned budget amid concerns about the hardship caused by the pandemic.

At a full council meeting, councillors agreed to limit the increase in its share of the Council Tax bill to 1.65%. That means, an average Band D council taxpayer will pay £173.50 a year, an increase of £2.81 per year or an extra 5p a week.

Charges Suspended for Use of Public Spaces

Stroud Town Council is allowing fitness groups to use its parks for free to encourage people to keep fit.

It usually charges private fitness classes and groups to use Park Gardens and Bank Gardens. Councillors decided to temporarily suspend the charges in response to the pandemic.

Remembrance Day Service

Mayor Kevin Cranston by the Cenotaph in Park Gardens

Stroud Town Council paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the country in a very scaled down event.

A small private service was held at the Cenotaph in Park Gardens. Officers from 50 Squadron 29 Regiment The Royal Logistic Corps provided a military presence.

Councillors Co-opted

Cllr Stella Parkes (left) and Cllr Sue Fenton (right)

Two new members have been co-opted on to Stroud Town Council.

Stella Parkes will represent Central Ward and Sue Fenton Trinity Ward. Both women will represent the wards until the local elections in May 2021.
