Councillor Vacancy Central Ward March 2025

""

You can make a real difference to your community of Stroud by becoming a town councillor.

Stroud Town Council has a casual vacancy in Central ward following the resignation of Councillor David Drew.

Being a town councillor takes just a few hours a week of your time but you can make a valuable impact on the life of this town. Town councillors can be anyone. What unites them is their interest and passion in local issues, their community and people and their willingness to get involved.

The Town Council is keen to encourage younger people to get involved with local government.

Stroud is fortunate to have a dynamic group of people on the council, of all ages. We are bucking the national trend with a higher proportion of female councillors and more of working age.

A survey by the National Association of Local Councils found that the average age of a local councillor is 61 and 44% of all local councillors are over the age of 66.

The closing date for applications is 18th April 2025. The Council will consider applications at their meeting on 28th April 2025.

If you would like to find out more about becoming a town councillor, please contact Town Clerk Helen Bojaniwska on 01453 762817 or email council@stroudtown.gov.uk.
