Town Meeting 2025
Stroud Town Council is inviting all Stroud town residents to its annual Town Meeting & Awards Ceremony, which will be held on Wednesday, 21st May at 7.30pm at Stroud Sub Rooms.
At the meeting, the Mayor will give his welcome address and present Stroud Town Council's Annual Report. He will also announce the winners and runners-up in each of the Town Council's award categories, which are:
Young Person (or Group) of the Year
Environment
Community
Trader
Equality and Diversity
Mayor's Award
The theme of this year's meeting is "Celebrating Stroud Youth''. Stroud Town Council is very aware of the importance of engaging young people in its work and ensuring that they have a say in the running and future of the town. Our guest speaker is Munsimran (Munny) Purba from Cumberland Lodge, an education charity. Munny is the author of Cumberland Lodge's report, Rising Voices on young people and democracy, published last November.
The event will showcase some of the work that's come out of our pilot project Shape Your Stroud – Stroud Town Council Youth Fund that our Community Development Team has been running with groups of young people. This work centres around directly involving young people in deciding how public funds should be used for the community. The results will help to both shape future services and activities for young people in Stroud and provide a blueprint for the Council to carry out more of our work in this way.
At the meeting, attendees will have the opportunity to give their views on what they believe are the priorities for Stroud town over the next five years, as the Council launches its strategy consultation roadshow. The roadshow will continue throughout June at various public spaces—including parks and supermarket forecourts—giving the widest opportunity for residents to share their views in person. A consultation survey is also available on our website and via social media.
The annual Town Meeting is open to all Stroud town residents. Light refreshments and musical entertainment will be provided. Please book your FREE place.
