Stroud has a New Mayor
Stroud's new mayor has pledged to do all she can to make the town centre a greener place that is accessible to all.
Councillor Stella Parkes, who represents Central Ward, was unanimously voted in as Mayor at the Town Council meeting last night (Monday).
She takes over from Kevin Cranston who has stepped down as mayor.

Mayor to Step Down
Stroud Mayor Kevin Cranston is stepping back after nearly a quarter of a century on the Town Council. When Councillor Cranston first joined Stroud Town Council in May 1998, the biggest issues facing the town were the decline of the High Street and plans to put new housing on Callowell Fields. The High Street has survived and Callowell Fields are still green.

New Councillor for Farmhill & Paganhill Ward
Music therapist Rachel Smith has been co-opted to Stroud Town Council.
Rachel, who grew up in Stroud, returned to Stroud in 2016 and lives with her husband and two children. She will represent Farmhill and Paganhill ward.
She is a qualified music therapist with extensive experience in adult social care. Rachel was previously elected to Gloucestershire County Council for one term.

New Councillor for Uplands Ward
Stroud book designer Megan Sheer has been co-opted to Stroud Town Council.
Megan, who has lived and worked in Stroud since 2004, will represent Uplands ward.

Stroud youth worker Adrian Oldman has been co-opted to Stroud Town Council.
Adrian, who has lived and worked in Stroud across a period of more than 40 years, will represent Farmhill and Paganhill ward.
Though he trained as a Chartered Secretary, Adrian has worked for the past 20 years in communications and marketing for a range of social enterprise, charities and housing associations.

Mr Davey will represent Uplands ward where he has lived for the past 15 years.
